Heading a tour of the site, Conagua MD Jose Luis Luege Tamargo stated that El Zapotillo Dam is now 40% complete in its construction.
He said that the dam, part of a project that will benefit over 2,400,000 people in Los Altos de Jalisco, the Guadalajara and Leon Metropolitan Area in Guanajuato, has so far created some 700 jobs.
Accompanied by the Director of the Guanajuato State Water Commission, Angelica Casillas Martinez, as well as executives of the construction firms, he pointed out that this dam and the El Zapatillo-Altos de Jalisco aqueduct in Leon, Guanajuato, will be completed next year.
The senior official stressed that when the aqueduct is complete it will benefit, in its first phase alone, 1,100,00 inhabitants in Leon, Guanajuato, and that the work will be completed to enable future connections to the 14 municipal areas of Jalisco, as their requirements demand.
